EPA Method Update Rule 2017 – Changes for Clients

To improve data quality and encourage the use of up-to-date technology, accrediting bodies are requiring that accredited laboratories use more recent revisions of analytical methods. The methods changed by the EPA in the 2017 Methods Update Rule are a part of this requirement, as well as some methods under SW-846: Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste: Physical/Chemical Methods.

To comply with these required changes, you will see some updates to your test methods.  All laboratories performing analysis in fulfillment of the new requirements will have to comply with this rule.

This primarily affects Volatile Organic Analysis (VOA), Semivolatile Analysis (SVOA), Pesticides and PCB Analysis, and VOA Preparation.
